[edit] The Beatles' Version

The Beatles recorded it as a song for Ringo to sing on the album, replacing If You've Got Trouble. Ringo recalled, "I sang Act Naturally in Help! I found it on a Buck Owens record and I said, 'This is the one I am going to be doing,' and they said 'OK'. We were listening to all kinds of things." It would end up being thei last full-band recorded cover until the Get Back sessions in 1969. They recorded Act Naturally on June 17, 1965 in 13 takes. The first 12, though, were basically just rehearsals and Ringo did not sing until the last take. The Beatles' version was barely different from the original version. It was never a part of their live set, although they did perform it on the Ed Sullivan Show taped on August 14, 1965 and aired on September 12. The first US release was as the B-Side to the Yesterday single, released September 13, 1965. The first US album release was on June 20, 1966, on the album Yesterday... And Today.
