[edit] Writing
Paul had written Another Girl while he was vacationing in Tunisia. He was in a secluded resort called Hammamet. In the bathroom, there were Islamic tiles, giving Paul the perfect acoustics to write a song. As Paul recalls, "You'd be sitting there having a cup of tea when the Russian delegation would be shown through by the government. You didn't have any control over that. 'This is one of our cultural guests.' 'Hello, how are you?'" Even though the song was considered somewhat of a filler track on the album by fans, Paul considered it more than that. "It's a bit much to call them fillers because I think they were a bit more than that, and each one of them made it past the Beatles test. We all had to like it. If anyone didn't like one of our songs it was vetoed. It could be vetoed by one person. If Ringo said, 'I don't like that one,' we wouldn't do it, or we'd have to really persuade him." The song was quite possibly about Paul's relationship with Jane Asher.
[edit] Recording
Another Girl was first recorded on February 15, 1965 and was completed in one take. Despite this, ten edit pieces for George's guitar part at the end of the song were recorded, though all of them ended up being unused. Also in this session, they worked on Ticket To Ride and I Need You. The next day, Paul overdubbed a lead guitar part, finishing the song.
[edit] In the Film Help!
The song Another Girl was played during a sequence shot in the Bahamas. The band stand on a coral reef on Balmoral Island, near New Providence Island. Paul held a woman in a bikini like a guitar, pretending to play her.
