From BeatlesWiki
The Beatles appeared live on the ABC Television program Lucky Stars (Summer Spin). This was unusual, as this show, as well as the version broadcast during the year,
Thank Your Lucky Stars were usually filmed six days in advance. This edition, however, was broadcast live because the technicians for ITV had gone on strike, cancelling previous plans to film at Alpha Studios in Aston, Birmingham on
July 5. After their promotion of the film
A Hard Day's Night the day before, they left
Liverpool airport at 1:30 AM, arriving at
London airport at 3:00 AM. After sleeping for a few hours, The Beatles met in central London, went on a boat, and traveled down the River Thames in order to get to Teddington Studio Center. They arrived at 1:45 PM for afternoon rehearsals. From 5:50 to 6:35, the program broadcast live, with The Beatles lip-synching to
A Hard Day's Night,
Long Tall Sally,
Things We Said Today, and
You Can't Do That.
