Short description The Beatles appear on Top Of The Pops.
Location Studio Two, Riverside Studios, London

Because they recently released a single, The Beatles appeared on Top Of The Pops. This would be the last time The Beatles went to BBC studios to shoot a lip-synched "performance" for Top Of The Pops. Taping, including rehearsals, took place from 1:30 PM and the A- and B- sides from their new single, Ticket To Ride and Yes It Is, were filmed. This appearance marked the first time that The Beatles wore their fawn-color jackets, which they would wear the next day at the NME concert and even later at their August 15 concert at Shea Stadium. Both songs were included in the broadcast, which aired from 7:30 to 8:00 PM on April 15. Yes It Is was re-aired on April 22 and Ticket To Ride was re-aired on April 29 and May 6. All the aforementioned programs aired from 7:30 to 8:00 PM. Interestingly, a twenty-five second piece of Ticket To Ride was included in an edition of the sci-fi drama Dr. Who. (In 'The Executioners,' the first episode of a six-part Dalek story which overall had the title 'The Chase', transmitted from 5:40 to 6:05 PM on May 22, 1965. In this episode, Vicki (played by Maureen O'Brien), the good doctor's assistant, was describing his "time and space visualiser" machine. She explained, "Anything that ever happens anywhere in the universe is recorded in light neutrons." She pointed out that the machine "converts the energy from neutrons into electrical impulses... that means you can just tune in and see every event in history!" The Doctor (played by William Hartnell) turns the machine on and an image of The Beatles standing on a small round podium from this show appeared.
