| Short description | A silent 1964 film of The Beatles in Scotland fails to sell at auction. |
| Location | Midgham, Berkshire |
A rare silent film, depicting The Beatles in Scotland in 1964 failed to sell at auction. The film, two and a half minutes long, was attempted to be sold by Cameo Auctioneers. It was expected to get anywhere from 8,000 pounds to 12,000 pounds along with the copyright to the film. Instead, it did not meet it's 4,500 pound reserve price, and did not sell. The 8mm film was shot at the Four Seasons hotel in St. Fillans on the banks of Loch Earn. They arrived at the hotel on October 19 after a performance in Edinburgh. They stayed there for two nights, playing in Dundee on October 20. This is believed to be the only surviving footage of stay. Jon King of Cameo Auctioneers said this, "We are all shocked and stunned. We have no idea why the film did not sell. We have always sold things like this in the past and they have sold really well. For some reason today we did not get the interest we expected, despite the fact that this is a really unique and unusual piece."
