Cayenne is an early Beatles song. A version of it from 1960 appears on 1995's Anthology 1. It was written solely by Paul McCartney.

Writing

The song was written by Paul McCartney, although the Lennon/McCartney songwriting partnership had been established by the point it had been written. It shows influence of The Shadows.

Recording

The only known recording of this song was performed at Paul's house on 20 Forthlin Road in Spring 1960. At this point, they rarely performed live and kept the group going by writing music and recording demos. The song, equalling 2:30 in length, had been available on bootlegs for years. An edited (and slightly sped up) version of 1:14 appears on 1995's Anthology 1.
