'57 Jan 16 -- The Cavern Club opens.

'57 Mar ?? -- John Winston Lennon with Pete Shotton formed the skiffle group of The Black Jacks, when he was 16 years old, soon after his Aunt Mimi had bought him a guitar for ? 17. The Black Jacks become The Quarrymen one week after forming.

'57 Jul 06 -- The Quarrymen perform at the Woolton Parish Church Fete. Ivan Vaughan introduces Paul to John.

'57 Jul 12 -- John invites Paul to join The Quarrymen.

'57 Aug 7 -- The debut at Cavern Club,without Paul, where they were chided for performing rock numbers such as 'Hound Dog' and 'Blue Suede Shoes'.

'57 Oct 18 -- Evening: Performance of the Quarrymen in a ball held by the Conservative Club, at the New Clubmoor Hall, Broadway, Liverpool. Paul's debut. Paul plays for John a couple of tunes he had composed, one of them being `I Lost My Little Girl'.

'57 Oct 25 -- Robbie McIntosh is born.

'58 Feb 08 -- Evening: Performance of the Quarry Men at the Wilson Hall, Garston. Paul introduces George to John.

'59 Aug 29 -- Opening night of the Mona Best's Casbah Coffee Club in West Derby. Show by the Quarrymen (John, Paul, George, Ken Brown). The group continued to play there each Saturday into October. Sometime, with name of "The Rainbows". The group knew Mona' son, Pete Best, a drummer with a group called "The Blackjacks". The new entry, Ken Brown, performed on bass with John, Paul and George for very short time here.

'59 Oct 10 -- Ken Brown quit The Quarrymen.

'59 Oct 16 -- George Martin produces a Peter Sellers' session using sitar and tabla, for the song `Wouldn't It Be Lovely', of the `Songs For Swingin' Sellers' LP.

'59 Nov 15 -- Manchester. Regional finals of a competition to appear on TV `Star Search'. The Beatles find the last bus back to Liverpool leaves before curtain call and must return dejected.

'59 Dec 25 -- Ringo receives his first drum kit, as a Christmas present.

'60 Jan ?? -- Stuart Sutcliffe joined The Quarrymen, having acquired a bass guitar.

'60 Apr 03 -- Elvis Presley records `It's Now Or Never'

'60 Apr 23 -- John and Paul perform as a duet at Caversham, Berkshire, calling themselves the Nerk Twins.

'60 May ?? -- John asked Allan Williams to manage The Moondogs. The group played at Williams' Jacaranda Coffee Bar.

'60 May 10 -- Audition for Larry Parnes. This time the drummer was to be Tommy Moore, but he came late, and for this reason Johnny Hutchinson played , he was "borrowed" from the band "The Cassanovas".

'60 May 20 -- Contract with Paramount Enterprises, to play the Grosvenor Ballroom, Wallasey. -- Start of tour of Scotland as backup band for Johnny Gentle.

'60 May 23 -- Johnny Gentle crashes the van carrying himself and the Beatles. Tommy Moore is hit in the mouth by a guitar.
