[edit] Beatles Version

The Beatles recorded Dizzy Miss Lizzy and Bad Boy on May 10, 1965. Both were intended for the American album Beatles VI. Paul McCartney recalls, "In an out-take I heard recently - recording Dizzy Miss Lizzy - John is saying, 'What's wrong with that?' and George Martin says, 'Erm... it wasn't exciting enough, John,' and John mumbles, 'Bloody hell,' - that kind of thing was creeping in a bit - 'It wasn't exciting enough, eh? Well, you come here and sing it, then!' I think that's just the pressure of work. When you've been working hard for a long time, you really start to need a break." Two takes of the song were recorded early in this 8:00 to 11:30 PM session. They then turned their attention to Bad Boy. After they finished work on Bad Boy, they recorded five more takes of Dizzy Miss Lizzy. Onto the last take, John added an organ part and George double-tracked his lead guitar. Both songs recorded in the session were mixed by session's end and were released a month later in America. The Beatles again played the song on January 6, 1969, when they recorded a jam of it during a Get Back session at Twickenham Film Studios.

[edit] Plastic Ono Band Version

John Lennon sang the song at the Toronto Rock And Roll Festival, the first-ever concert of The Plastic Ono Band on September 13, 1969 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Also in this concert, John and The Plastic Ono Band played several other classic rock and roll songs also covered by The Beatles, such as Money (That's What I Want) and Blue Suede Shoes. This performance was released on the album Live Peace In Toronto 1969.
