Short description George films his appearance in Raga.
Location Big Sur, California, USA

George and Ringo visited California from June 7 to June 18, 1968. The main purpose of this visit was to have George film an appearance in the film Raga. The film was about Ravi Shankar's life, and at the time was tentatively titled East Meets West. It would later be changed to Messenger Out Of The East, before being changed to it's final title. The film would not premiere until November 23, 1971. A soundtrack to the film, produced by George Harrison, was released by Apple Records. George had a only short appearance in the 96-minute film. His appearance was filmed in the Big Sur region of San Francisco, at a country location overlooking the ocean. Ringo, however, was in Monterey while this happened. On this day, George was taught a new raga by Ravi. This was not planned, nor rehearsed, but only a short part of it was included in the film. The unedited footage of this lasted thirty minutes.
