Hallelujah, I Love Her So is a song originally by Ray Charles. The Beatles covered this song in their 1960 rehearsals at Paul's house. They played it live from 1960 to 1962.

The Beatles' version

Ray Charles originally recorded the song in 1956, though The Beatles were most likely influenced by Eddie Cochran's 1960 version. George says that they were very influenced by Eddie Cochran, "[Eddie Cochran] was a very good guitar player and that's what I remember most. I was very impressed by not only his songs, but by his cover numbers, like Ray Charles's Hallelujah, I Love Her So." It was recorded, along with several other songs, at Paul's house on 20 Forthlin Road in 1960. The date of this recording is not known, though it is usually cited as somewhere between April and July. Three of these songs, including this one, You'll Be Mine, and Cayenne were released on 1995's Anthology 1. The Anthology 1 version, however, is an edited version of what has been available on bootlegs for years. First of all, it is sped up from the key of A to B-flat, secondly, it eliminates the second verse, the middle eight, and a guitar solo. The unedited version is 2:22, while the Anthology version is 1:13. It was part of their live shows until 1962. Another version available on bootlegs is the December 25, 1962 performance at The Star Club in Germany. The lead vocal is done by Horst Fascher, the club's manager, who joined them onstage for a few songs.
