Writing

Hold Me Tight was an early Lennon/McCartney original, written at McCartney's house on 20 Forthlin Road. It was part of their live set from 1961 to 1963.

Recording

Hold Me Tight was first attempted during the ten-hour session that produced most of Please Please Me on February 11, 1963. Thirteen takes were recorded, although it did not make the final album, so the tapes were most likely destroyed. They tried it again seven months later for With The Beatles, finishing it in nine takes. Paul recalled, "When we first started it was all singles and we were always trying to write singles, That's why you get lots of these two minute 30 second songs; they all came out the same length. Hold Me Tight was a failed attempt at a single which then became an acceptable album filler."
