See John admits Apple is losing money - January 13, 1969.
An interview conducted on January 13 is published in Disc & Music Echo. Because of this, Allen Klein saw his opportunity to manage The Beatles. He later said, "I read a statement attributed to John Lennon, and I immediately telephoned Mr Lennon’s office and arranged to meet him in London." Although several assume this is the start of the "Allen Klein saga," he had actually been following them around since 1968. Peter Brown recalled meeting him, "he was so foul-mouthed and abusive, I ended the meeting in a few moments and showed him the door." He proposed to merge The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, whom he managed, during the meeting which Brown mentioned, setting up a joint office and recording studio. Brown recalled, "He came across as a rather hysterical, unstable person, but when he realised I wasn’t trying to take over the Stones he calmed down a bit. And as he walked out, he suddenly turned to Clive and said, ‘How much d’ya want for the Beatles?’"
