John was interviewed on a day of filming for A Hard Day's Night (See Filming for A Hard Day's Night - March 17, 1964) by BBC broadcaster Jack de Manio about his upcoming book, In His Own Write (published on March 23, 1964). The interview was broadcast on the Home Service news program Today the next day from 7:15 to 7:45 AM. It was repeated in the second half of the program, aired from 8:15 to 8:40 AM.
