John and
Yoko's Year of Peace, a program originally broadcast by CBC Television in Canada to commemorate
John Lennon's 60th birthday, is released on DVD in the US. Image Entertainment distributed the DVD. The special utilized the CBC's archival film from
1969, as well as rare footage and photographs given by
Yoko Ono, who also contributed interviews to the program. The show was praised by The Golbe and Mail as a "brilliant documentary." Doug Thompson, who had the idea for the program, enlisted producer Paul McGrath and director Alan Lysaght. Both of them chronicled John and Yoko's three
1969 visits to Canada in the program.
