| Short description | John and Yoko filming for "The World Of John and Yoko" segment on 24 Hours. |
| Location | Suffolk |
On this date, John and Yoko filmed for a short segment called "The World of John and Yoko," to be featured in an edition of the TV show 24 Hours. The crew followed John and Yoko in their Rolls-Royce to the snow-covered Suffolk countryside. They were on their way to the Market Square in Lavenham to make a film, Apothesis 2, another one of their experimental productions. This film showed John and Yoko hunched together, shivering, covered from head to toe in a large black cape with only their eyes showing, while a hot air balloon was inflated and launched into the sky, with cameraman Nick Knowland on board, ready to film panormaic views of the snow-covered landscape. (The fact that there was snow was accidental. The filming was, however, pre-arranged, and came after previous shooting in Hampshire, which they were not satisfied with.) The 24 Hours film showed John and Yoko waiting for the balloon to go up and also showed them, without their capes, checking in to a local hotel, the Bull Hotel in Long Melford. John and Yoko made three other experimental films like this in 1969, though the filming dates are not known for any of them. These films were Honeymoon, Rape Part II, and Self-Portrait. Self-Portrait was a 42-minute film showing the various stages of erection in John's penis in slow motion. The film received no public reviews and was only shown at a few private screenings. Yoko said of the lack of reviews, "The critics wouldn't touch it."
