For the Whitsun bank holiday, Les Dodd, owner of the Grosvenor Ballroom, booked a Monday night jive and rock session.
The Beatles then known as The Silver Beatles and Gerry And The Pacemakers played at Grosvenor Ballroom, Wallasey on June 6, 1960.
This was the first time (but not the last!) that the two groups appeared together on a bill. Both groups would become some of Liverpool's most successful.
