The dance at The El Rio Club was first scheduled for January 19, but it was postponed to this date. They were on the bill with Wayne Fontana and the Jets. Fontana would later find fame with The Mindbenders. Backstage at King's Hall on Glebe Street in Stoke-On Trent, Staffordshire, The Beatles would write the song Misery, at which point they were intending to give the song to Helen Shapiro. They performed the song onstage, the only live performance of the song ever, as well as a cover of "Walk Right In," a number-one song by the American act The Rooftop Singers.
