| Short description | Mixing Session. Songs Mixed: Across The Universe. |
| Location | Abbey Road Studios |
The World Wildlife Fund charity album No One's Gonna Change Our World was soon to be released, and because the album was to include the first release of the song Across The Universe, the song needed to be mixed into stereo, which is exactly what George Martin did during this 9:30 to 11:00 AM session. Because it was the opening track on a World Wildlife Fund album, Martin felt that the song should begin and end with wildlife sounds. Tapes of birds chirping, birds flying, and, surprisingly, children on a playground were copied from the Abbey Road effects compilation. 20 seconds of this would be included at the beginning of this version of the song and a short burst would also be included at the end of the song. Martin also sped the recording up greatly, cutting ten seconds from it's original running time. The finished album was compiled by George Martin on October 3 at Abbey Road Studios. The album itself would be released in Britain on October 12.
