Party was one of the first rock and roll numbers The Quarrymen played. John Lennon recalled in 1963, "Paul and I hit it off right away. I was just a bit worried because my old mates were going and new people like Paul and George were joining, but we soon got used to each other. We started to do big beat numbers like Twenty Flight Rock - funny, really, because we were still meant to be a skiffle group. Let's Have A Party used to be my big number."
