On this date, Paul worked on Apple artist Mary Hopkin's second single and successor to the multi-million selling Those Were The Days. The song was recorded in Morgan Studios, a new studio where both Paul and Ringo recorded solo albums in 1970. This session produced Goodbye, a song written by Paul McCartney especially for her. Paul plays guitar and bass and slaps his thigh on her recording. Afterwards, a cover of the Gallagher and Lyle song Sparrow. On Sparrow, Paul most likely played bass. Paul produced both tracks. Tony Bramwell of Apple was at the session, 16mm filming the session for a promotional clip. The one clip he filmed was of Paul and Mary talking about and working on the song, which was not eve shown on British TV. It was however, included on an episode of The Beatles Anthology TV series. Another unused clip was of Hopkin performing the song in buttercups in the garden of Paul'shouse in St. John's Wood.
