Short description Recording an edition of Pop Goes The Beatles.
Location Studio Five, Maida Vale Studios, London

The four-week trial of the Pop Goes The Beatles BBC radio program had been successful, so the BBC booked another eleven editions of the program, making fifteen total. This second run featured a different host, Rodney Burke, who replaced Lee Peters, the previous host. Typical of The Beatles, they continued their disregard for names. On the previous editions of the program, the band would refer to host Lee Peters off-air as "Pee Liters." At the start of this program, when Burke said "My name's Rodney Burke," John Lennon commented "That's your fault!," referring to the fact that Rodney Burke was a stage name and Burke was not his real last name. The Beatles recorded the fifth edition of this show on this date, which would be broadcast on July 16 from 5:00 to 5:29 PM. Rehearsal and recording for the program took place between 6:30 and 9:30 PM. They played Elvis Presley's That's All Right (Mama), There's A Place, Chuck Berry's Carol, Arthur Alexander's Soldier Of Love (Lay Down Your Arms), Carl Perkins' Lend Me Your Comb, and The Jodimars' Clarabella. Also recorded but not broadcast were The Coasters' Three Cool Cats, Chuck Berry's Sweet Little Sixteen, and Ask Me Why. The guest act of this edition was Duffy Power with the Graham Bond Quartet.
