Short description Brass and Woodwind overdubs recorded for Penny Lane.
Location Abbey Road Studios

Six other musicians were brought into the studio to record the brass and woodwind parts for Penny Lane, with three of those six overdubbing another instrument, two piccolos and a flugelhorn. The four flautists were Ray Swinfield, P Goody, Manny Winters, and Dennis Walton. The trumpet players were Leon Calvert and Freddy Clayton. Unbeknownst to all except John, in between takes, their conversations were being recorded for John's personal collection. Two more rough mono mixes were made before the session ended. It lasted from 7:00 PM to 1:45 AM.
