Only five days after writing it during the Helen Shapiro tour, The Beatles recorded From Me To You. Originally, From Me To You was considered to be the B-Side of their next single, with Thank You Girl as the A-Side. It was during this session that it was decided to chage the sides around. The From Me To You/Thank You Girl single was released on April 11, 1963. Because they still had time, The Beatles decided to record two more songs, One After 909, and What Goes On. In the end, they only had time for One After 909. Even so, the song was not issued until it was rerecorded in drastically different form and released on Let It Be in 1970. The version taped on this day was not made available until Anthology 1 in 1995. The Beatles would return to What Goes On in 1965 when recording Rubber Soul.
