A 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM session during which the basic track, Ringo's lead vocals, and John, Paul, and George's backing vocals were recorded for Yellow Submarine, taking the song from Take 1 to Take 5. George Martin was not present as he was recovering from food poisoning, so the session was overseen by Geoff Emerick. Despite this, Martin did send along his fiancee Judy Lockhart-Smith for the session.
