| Short description | Recording Session. Songs Recorded: Long Long Long and Why Don't We Do It In The Road. |
| Location | Abbey Road Studios |
A 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM session. First, The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill was mixed into mono and stereo. Next, Paul overdubbed sporadic backing vocals and Chris Thomas overdubbed piano onto Long Long Long, completing the song. A mono copy of the 27-minute take of Helter Skelter from July 18 was made and taken away by Paul for his personal collection. While Chris Thomas was overdubbing his piano in studio two, Paul brought engineer Ken Townsend to studio one, wher Paul quickly recorded the basic track for Why Don't We Do It In The Road. Other than a drum part later overdubbed by Ringo, the recording was Paul McCartney solo, taped on a four-track machine. Five takes were recorded and a piano overdub was added to the last of these.
