Radio London, a pirate radio station, closed on August 5, 1967. The Beatles, heavy supporters of pirate radio, sent Ringo to record a farewell message for the station. Ringo showed up at the central London offices of the station on 17 Curzon Street and recorded his 11-second message for the station, on behalf of The Beatles with the company's managing director, Philip Birch.
