Beatles Versions
Shout had been part of The Beatles' live set from 1960 to 1961. No recording of this song covered by The Beatles exists from this era. The first recorded version was for the TV special Around The Beatles, which they lip-synch to seven songs they recorded earlier, with real audience screams to give the impression of a live performance. They recorded these on April 19, 1964. They filmed the special on April 28 and it aired on May 6. Unusually, all four Beatles had lead vocal parts. This recording was finally released on Anthology 1 in 1995. This version had the screams edited out, however, around thirty seconds were edited out of the recording. The full version is available on bootlegs. They also recorded it during the Get Back sessions in January 1969.
