The Beatles recorded Sie Leibt Dich, as well as Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand (A German version of I Want To Hold Your Hand) while touring in Paris in January 1964. A West German counterpart to EMI, Electrola Gesellschaft, persuaded The Beatles' management to have them rerecord songs in the German language in order to make them sell in Germany. It was common to do so in 1964, though even at the time, The Beatles were not enthusiastic about doing so, and they never did again. They were assisted by a German translator named Otto Demmlar. As Ian McDonald noted in his book Revolution In The Head, the idea of singles being rerecorded in other languages would become unpopular. He says, "The resulting promotion of the English language around the world is one of [The Beatles'] most substantial, and least documented, achievements." So, on January 29, 1964, The Beatles went into Pathe Marconi Studios in Paris to rerecord I Want To Hold Your Hand and She Loves You in German. For Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand, they just rerecorded the vocals on top of the original basic track. For Sie Leibt Dich, they were not able to do this, as the two-track tape had been destroyed after they mixed the song for mono. So, for Sie Leibt Dich, they had to completely rerecord the song, instruments and all. They were able to get the basic track in thirteen takes, and afterwards added the vocals in just one take. Engineer Norman Smith recalls, "They were extremely pleased to get it over with. We all were. I found the studio very odd to work in, the equipment was alien to anything we were used to."
