Can someone clarify what the 1967 demo consists of? If it is just the chorus (which I suspect) then it seems likely the verses were composed in India. Ian MacDonald says "Written in India", and points out the descending bassline, which suggests they were written on acoustic guitar.

The article says the song was written before India, which would not be accurate. I am guessing the verses were written later than the chorus.
