The Beatles' contract with EMI expires. Paul decides to stay with EMI. George and Ringo move to other labels. John does not sign with anyone. Almost immediately after, EMI decides to sort through more than 400 hours of unreleased Beatles recording for the eventual release of a compilation album called Sessions. Shortly before it's scheduled 1985 release, The Beatles sue to stop it's release. A legitimate compilation of Beatles unreleased recordings would not be released until 1995's Anthology 1.
