The Beatles appeared on
The Ken Dodd Show, a 30-minute show of comedy sketches and sound effects starring
Liverpool comedian
Ken Dodd, for the first and only time. The Beatles had appeared with Dodd at a charity show at the Albany Cinema two years earlier, where their rock and roll numbers were considered inappropriate for a charity gig such as that one. They did not appear in any of the comedy sketches recorded for the program, instead playing the musical interlude, performing
She Loves You. It was taped at the middle of the program, in front of a studio audience between 10:00 and 11:00 PM, after a 6:30 PM rehearsal. The show was broadcast right before their appearance on
The Public Ear on
November 3 (See
Beatles Interview for The Public Ear - October 3, 1963). It was broadcast from 2:30 to 3:00 PM. It was repeated on
November 6 from 8:00 to 8:30 PM and again on
February 1,
1964 frm 1:10 to 1:40 PM.
