Around 6:00 PM (New York time) that day, The Beatles recorded a telephone interview with BBC presenter Brian Matthew. In England, the time was 11:00 PM, but Brian Matthew, nor The Beatles minded, The Beatles were excited to be interviewed about their arrival in America. The program was broadcast the following day. Brian rerecorded his side of the interview for better quality. Also on this program was Malcolm Davis, who gave interviews with fans at the airport where they arrived, as well as DJ Murray The K, who talked with and took song requests from The Beatles over the radio repeatedly during their stay in New York. One-fifth of Great Britain's population listened to the program.
