Short description The Grey Album, a mash-up of The Beatles' album The Beatles (AKA The White Album) and Jay-Z's The Black Album done by DJ Danger Mouse is released.
Location
The Grey Album, a mash-up of The Beatles' album The Beatles (AKA The White Album) and rapper Jay-Z's The Black Album done by DJ Danger Mouse is released. About 3000 copies were pressed, which all sold out immediately, making the album a collector's item. The album was just one of many mashup albums of The Black Album, which was released in a vocals-only edition so DJs could, in one engineer's words, "remix the hell out of it." EMI issued a cease-and-desist order a month later, when they claimed DJ Danger Mouse had not asked permission for the recordings, nor had he paid royalties.
