The Kinks

The Kinks were an English rock band formed in Muswell Hill, North London, by brothers Ray and Dave Davies in 1964 and disbanding in 1996.
Relation To The Beatles
- The first Kinks single was a cover of the Little Richard song Long Tall Sally. The Beatles also recorded a cover of this song for their EP named Long Tall Sally.
- The Kinks appeared on the same bill as The Beatles on August 2, 1964 at Gaumont Cinema, Bournemouth. They were billed as a "new and unknown London group.
- Both bands covered the Chuck Berry song Too Much Monkey Business. The Kinks covered the song on their 1964 debut self-titled LP and The Beatles covered it four times throughout 1963 for BBC Radio.
- Milk Cow Blues has been covered by both bands. The Kinks recorded a version for their 1965 album The Kink Kontroversy and The Beatles recorded it during a Get Back session on January 22, 1969.
