Chuck Berry released Too Much Monkey Business as a single in 1956.
The Beatles' Versions
The Beatles first covered the song live in 1960, continuing to cover it live until 1962. Four different versions were recorded for BBC radio in 1963. The first recorded version was included on the program Saturday Club, which was recorded at BBC Broadcasting house in London. Five other songs were broadcast live from this March 16 session. The second version was recorded for Side By Side on April 4, and was recorded in the BBC's Paris studio in London. This was broadcast on June 24. Another version was recorded for Pop Goes The Beatles on June 1 once again at the Paris Studio. This was broadcast on June 11. All the previously mentioned BBC versions are only available on bootlegs. The final version was recorded on September 3, and was broadcast seven days later on Pop Goes The Beatles. This version was included on the 1994 compilation Live at the BBC.
