The Beatles made their first TV appearance in the London area on the children's program Tuesday Rendezvous, transmitted by the capital's weekday ITV station, Associated-Rediffusion. The program broadcast live from 5:00 to 5:55 PM. Wembley Studios, where the program was broadcast from, was right across the street from the Empire Pool arena where The Beatles appeared in concert four times from 1963 to 1966. The Beatles' appearnce on the program included the band lip-synching to all of Love Me Do and forty-five seconds of P.S. I Love You. They took part in rehearsals from 1:30 to 5:00 PM. Also on the program, hosted by Muriel Young, was guitar virtuoso Burt Wheedon, folk singer Wally Whyton (formerly of the Vipers Skiffle Group, a George Martin-produced group), and glove puppets Fred Barker and Ollie Beak.
